Endangered Orphans of Condyle Cove

Created by Certifiable Studios

A deplorable tabletop game devoid of joy, hope, or humor; which, regrettably, is also far more awesome than it has any right to be.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?
over 7 years ago – Sat, Oct 15, 2016 at 09:57:09 PM

Of course we are having fun! What could we possibly have to complain about? I mean, we're creating art...games...tons of new friends...and we are testing our own personal limits of frustration tolerance!  It's a good time to be Certifiable!

ORPHAN MODELING AGENCY AND A BIGGER BOX?

Anthony Coffey is working hard (or is it hardly working? I can't remember) on the Orphan models and we should have something to hand to the manufacturer soon.  To keep everything on track, we are engaging a second modeling artist to bring the Boogeyman to life, but Coffey will take it to the finish line and make sure Jesse's vision reaches the manufacturer.

Additionally, I'm talking to the the manufacturer about box sizes and costs.  I still don't know what our quantities are for the add ons, but if it turns out there was enough interest in the Cul De Sac mats, it would be nice to be able to fit them in the box, right?  Still not sure if I can afford it or if enough were sold to justify it, but that's something I'm working on.  And if this is something you think is a good idea, feel free to add more stuff when the Backerkit survey comes out in a week or two.

BFFs?

Jesse? Our lovely artist friend has been busy, too.  He's constantly telling Opie and me that he wants us to ask him to do more "stuff", especially when he's in a groove.  He's quite the actor, by the way.  Even though we know he loves us, he likes to tease us by acting like he's overworked and blames us for breathing.  It's really impressive.

And let's not forget Opie!  Kickstarter and Opie have fast become best friends. He really has enjoyed creating our new Kickstarter project for Jesse's book "The Art of Gaming".

This doesn't look like a game!
This doesn't look like a game!

No, really, he's enjoyed it so much he's created the project 4, 5, or maybe 10 times!  Even though I keep breathing down his neck saying "Opie, we promised it would be up yesterday!", he repeatedly replies with a "No, I think it would be best if we figured out a way for Kickstarter to actually accept the project before we launch."   So, even though I, Rick Moore, have accepted and approved the project over and over and over, Opie says he won't be satisfied until Kickstarter decides it's good enough not to be DENIED. The good news, though, is they are making it fun by not actually telling us what they don't like about it. That would be way too easy to fix, so I guess it's a game after all.  FUN!

I know this is frustrating for you guys that feel it's poor form for us to have waited this long to do our second campaign, so please forgive us.  At least the art isn't getting stale!

Until then, we hope you have a certifiably wonderful weekend!

Rick

PRINT N PLAY IS A HAMMER WHICH WE USE TO CRUSH THE ENEMY...

Some people like to download PDF's of games and print them for free in order to "evaluate" or "pre-play" the games. These people are called communists.

Commonly known fact: Stalin LOVED print n' play games.
Commonly known fact: Stalin LOVED print n' play games.

The Core Game's PNP PDF will be ready for release the first week of November and will include BLACK N' WHITE printer-friendly and full-color versions laid out on AVERY 8X templates for easy print and separation of cards (Front and back, if you'd like).

FINAL STRETCH GOAL!!
What WAS that final stretch goal? Why HIGH RES 8.5 x 10.5 EXCLUSIVE ENDANGERED ORPHAN PRINTS! *That's* what!

Three (3) of them to be exact! Yep, 3 exclusive, just for you 7000+ backers, original Endangered Orphans prints. 'Course, being an ANTI-stretch goal, there's a catch: They're PDFs you'll have to print yourselves.

Sorry... best we could do and keep your shipping costs under control.

Wait... there's a second Anti-Stretch Goal twist: *IF* you back the Kickstarter we launch this Friday, we'll ship you a signed high-quality printed version of your choice. And if you back us at a high enough tier, we'll MAKE SURE Rick doesn't sign it.

THIS FRIDAY'S KICKSTARTER

Relax! It's NOT a kickstarter for a game, people!  We're sending Jesse to CTN (Learn more HERE). Jesse has been to dozens of Comic Cons, but THE con for illustrators is something he has yet to visit, so we're helping get him there!

He'll be featuring a book he's calling "THE ART OF THE GAME" featuring chapters focused exclusively at the creation of the art and story behind our upcoming line up of games.

As many of our backers likely won't be there, we want to give you a first-grab opportunity to get a copy of the book... AND give you an advance look at what fun is to come from Certifiable Studios.

Check out the video above for more info from Jesse himself.

NOW... STOP READING THIS AND GO BACK A *REAL* GAME!!!
We are thrilled to have gotten to know the guys at White Cherry Games. No, we aren't friends with them IRL. No we AREN'T getting a cut of their funding. We just genuinely think they have a very cool game with really great art. And the guys are also pretty charming and funny.

And we clearly know a thing or two about being charming and funny.

So if you haven't backed FAMILY PLOTS yet... please, go check it out.

Why, just LOOK at this art:

#OURIDEA!!
#OURIDEA!!

THE FINAL DAYS ARE UPON THEM!!! GO BACK THEM! RIGHT NOW! WHY ARE YOU READING THIS?! CLICK THIS HUGE LONG LINK OF A PARAGRAPH AND BACK THEM!

Seriously, take a look. It really is a cool game made by a good group of game designers.

From the gang at Family Plots and we're sure from ALL the Game Designers on Kickstarter, THANK YOU for supporting independent games. Really... without you guys, we'd all be out of work.

KICKING & STREAMING: The Unauthorized* Fulfillment Video Diaries
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 12, 2016 at 12:27:33 AM

For those of you who don't have the time or inclination to watch the above video, here are the highlights:

  • We've chosen Panda Games as our primary game manufacturing partner
  • We're using BackerKit as our Project Manager. Pre-order pages should be live late this week/early next week and Surveys will start two to three weeks later.
  • We're launching our next Kickstarter this Friday.

For details on the above highlights please find the time and inclination to watch the above video (and, as always feel free to email/message us with any questions)!

WE MISSED YOU PEOPLE!!!
Hi guys! Today was the first FULL day all three of us were back in the studios at the same time since the close of the Endangered Orphans Campaign. We're pulling together the kind of "YOU BACKERS ARE FREAKING AMAZING!!!!" shout out video you all so very much deserve, but we didn't want another moment to go by without sending some kind of update/follow up.

With that in mind, the two questions we received more than any other since the campaign ended has been:

1) HOW did an unproven team that had never run a Kickstarter Campaign before manage to garner this kind of success?

and

2) Now that you've had this level of success, how are you going to fulfill your obligations without screwing things up? (we're paraphrasing this question to make it sound more positive)

The answers to these are both very similar:
1) we don't know... and
2) we're not sure.

But, because (seriously) so many are asking, we figured we would bring you along with us as we try to find out.

So, in addition to the written updates we'll be sending out periodically (which we realize will be adequate for most of you) I'm also shooting as much of the day-to-day adventures, vendor-interactions, team outings, product-testings, group disagreements (of which there are a lot), goofing-off-ness (of which there is much more) and all-around "what is REALLY going on at Certifiable" type things that may be of interest to those wondering what it takes to go from an unknown upstart to a fairly obscure upstart within the indie table-top game industry.

It may not always be informative or "interesting" but I can promise you this: I won't always clear the videos through Jesse or Rick before I post them. So at the VERY least, we should have some fun hearing from them after they go live.

More VERY soon!
-Opie & Team

TOMORROW'S UPDATES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Print & Play Status.
  • What the heck was the LAST Anti-Stretch Goal?
  • Wait, you're launching a Kickstarter THIS Friday??

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE THE ENDING
over 7 years ago – Thu, Oct 06, 2016 at 10:38:19 PM

THE FOLLOWING UPDATE WAS HALF WRITTEN BY RICK AND HALF WRITTEN BY OPIE.

(Guess who chose THIS gif...)
(Guess who chose THIS gif...)

By the time this is sent, you're looking at, like 4ish hours left to wonder just how we're going to screw this whole thing up before the campaign ends.

My money is on Rick Moore, in a sleep deprived state, clicking the "CANCEL FUNDING" button rather than the "SAVE" button.

Seriously, Kickstarter Edit Campaign Page Layout Designer... did you think this through?
Seriously, Kickstarter Edit Campaign Page Layout Designer... did you think this through?

But just in case it is actually "SAVED", we wanted to let you know that we have locked in our super awesome trustworthy brilliant know-all campaign manager. Perhaps you know her already...

Remember, the answer to anything it asks you is... well... you know...
Remember, the answer to anything it asks you is... well... you know...

Also known as Backerkit.

But if you don't want to wait until the survey to throw more money at this super worthwhile game...there is still lots of time! (that's not exactly true)

Make It Rain!
Make It Rain!

In the meantime...we would like to sing you a little song to remind you how awesome we are! (also, not true...but Sam Watson is)

If you've had as much fun as we've had (not very likely), don't forget to follow us on Kickstarter! There's so much more to come!

Our First (and last) Genuine Update!
over 7 years ago – Tue, Oct 04, 2016 at 12:09:04 AM

The Kickstarter clock has changed its ways.

It no longer counts the days you have to suffer through senseless updates from the Certifiable team, it counts the hours. We are making our final push for the Endangered Orphans of Condyle Cove, and that means one thing…
We want more money.

Actually, that’s not true. In fact, we really tried to ignore our backers plea for more add-ons and kept saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! But, as you would expect from first time Kickstarters, we caved. Not because we wanted to, but because we didn’t want you to run out of OPTIONS!

NEW GAME MATS: ONLY $6 EACH

For the ridiculously affordable price of $6.00, you can be sure to keep your Acts of Desperation and Cove Cards organized with the new Cul De Sac mats. But most importantly, you can cover up Jesse’s hideous custom art. Who would want to look at it, anyway?

You can choose KIDDIE CORNER for the base game, or a custom mat for any of the three booster packs. And again, in case you missed it, they're each just $6.00. Of course, if you are an even bigger glutton for punishment, you can buy all four Cul De Sac mats for $20.00.

SOLO MOD NOW INCLUDED
We also hit another one of those lovely Anti-Stretch Goals you’ve come to loathe! But don’t tell your friends! Nope, you have to suffer this one all by yourself! And that Boogeyman you brought to life at $200,000 has found a new purpose in life! Not only does he want the sadly Endangered Orphans of Condyle Cove…he wants YOU! But don’t blame us! You can blame our very own Brian Thomson (Jesse’s long-time collaborator in all things mechanics) for this little piece of misery!

WE BOOSTED THE BOOSTER PACKS
And when you aren’t playing with yourself, you may be happy to find three more cards in each Booster Pack! That’s right! Each Booster now comes with 10 cards! An extra Option card (that Jesse brilliantly made for you), a blank Option card (that allows you to completely screw it up yourself), and a SOLO MOD game enhancing card!
See…we are just as nice as we are handsome!

OUR GREATEST CREATION EVER

And finally, in a complete lapse of judgment on our part, we somehow committed to giving to you our Million Dollar idea for free by hitting yet ANOTHER Anti-Stretch Goal! We wanted to make this our next Kickstarter campaign, but why start trying to make a profit now?
